Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) conducted a 9 days level one technical course for coaches in Taekwondo. The course started from 23 July to 31 July, 2023 in Lilongwe at Kamuzu Institute for Sports with a total of 20 coaches. Mr. Edgard Mayamba, a World Taekwondo Expert from the Democratic Republic of Congo facilitated the Course.
Speaking during the closing Ceremony, the Guest of Honor, Hon. Jappie Mhango, the President of Malawi Olympic Committee said that, He is very happy that, the course has been delivered as per expected. He further thanked Mr. Mayamba for delivering the course to Taekwondo Coaches in Malawi.
“I am very happy today that we have finally delivered one of the very important Courses. Taekwondo is one of the very important sports as far as Malawi Olympic Committee is concerned, as we believe that, these individual sport has got a bright future in terms of medal winning. And therefore, we are making every effort to invest as much as we can in individual sport and Taekwondo is one of them.”, said Hon. Mhango.
On his part, Taekwondo Expert, Mr. Edgard Mayamba said he is very happy that he has imparted the knowledge and skills to Taekwondo coaches as per the design of the level one technical course for coaches.
“I am very happy that, the coaches they have understood the basic skills of Taekwondo.” Said Mayamba.
He further, appreciated the MOC for hosting him all 9 days without any challenges encountered.
“In general, my days in Malawi, I find beautiful people, very happy, no even one day I was stressful about my Job here in Malawi. Even if you ask me 10 thousand times to come here in Malawi, I am ready to come back.” Said Mayamba.
Speaking representing all the Coaches, Mr. Typen Kamanga National Coach for Taekwondo Association of Malawi said that, the Expert has imparted the much-needed knowledge for Taekwondo and he promised to invest the knowledge to the Athletes. And thanked MOC for supporting the development of sports in the country.
“We have benefited a lot from this course and indeed the knowledge we needed has been imparted into us. Now the ball is in our court and we promise to use the knowledge gained appropriately.” Said Typen.
The course was funded by International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the Olympic Solidarity.
