The Olympafrica International Foundation is currently hosting its Directors Network Meeting in Dakar, Senegal, from 6th to 13th April 2025. The event brings together 16 English-speaking directors from across Africa for an intensive capacity-building workshop. Designed to empower sports leaders, this event focuses on key areas such as inclusion in sports, the introduction of Baseball5, the O!YES Monitoring and Evaluation Tools and project development strategies.

The workshop features expert facilitators from Europe and Africa, each bringing specialized knowledge to the table. Topics covered include:

  • Inclusion in Sports: Discussions on creating inclusive environments that support athletes from all backgrounds and abilities.
Baseball5: A dynamic new sport aimed at broadening the scope of sports participation across the continent.
O!YES Monitoring & Evaluation Tools: Practical tools to assess and ensure the effectiveness of sports initiatives.
Project Elaboration & Economic Project Development: Insights on designing and presenting financially viable sports projects with sustainable impacts.

James Mangani, Center Director at the Malawi Olympafrica Center, emphasized the importance of the meeting in strengthening leadership across Africa’s sports landscape.

“This workshop has been an incredible opportunity for us to learn from experts in various fields. The knowledge and tools shared here will not only enhance our ability to drive positive change within our communities but also help us lead the way in promoting inclusive sports. I am excited to bring back these new insights and strategies to Malawi to ensure we continue to grow and develop the sports landscape for all,” Mangani said.

The Olympafrica International Foundation’s efforts to host such workshops reflect its commitment to building a collaborative network of leaders who can collectively advance sports development across Africa. The Directors Network Meeting serves as a critical step in fulfilling the Foundation’s mission of creating sustainable sports development programs that cater to all communities, particularly underserved groups.

The Foundation continues to work towards fostering a stronger, more inclusive sports culture throughout the African continent, with more initiatives planned for the future.
