Malawi Olympic Committee is to conduct two courses in Sports Administration which is aimed at educating Sports Administrators about Sports Management.
MOC has organized these courses in order to assist Sports Administrators on the roles and contributions they can make in developing sports at both national and international standards as they maintain their level of fitness in this time of COVID 19 pandemic while still focusing on podium performance.
This will also assist in developing sports through sports associations targeting new sport administrators, Paralympics, women in sports and those that have administrative problems basing on the requirements by the Olympic Solidarity and guidelines on “safe play” during the COVID 19 pandemic.
Speaking in an interview with MOC`s Administration Manager, Naomie Chinatu, said, Sports Administration course enlightens all the areas of need on what it takes for one to manage sports hence ones has to undergo the course.
”It provides Sports Development, communication and coordination, as well as General Planning of Sports activities, she said.”
These were the remaining courses to be done in the current quadrennial which is coming to an end in December 2020 and had five courses planned in Sports Administration.
The targeted participants for this course are Athletes, Team Managers, Coaches and Referees who have been drawn from Netball, MASSA, Football, Volleyball, and Paralympics. The Facilitators are George Jana, Mary Kalirani, Kossamu Phande and Isaac Masingati.
As part of observing the COVID-19 preventive measures, Malawi Olympic Committee will provide masks and sanitizer bottles to participants and facilities for washing hands with soap with effective social distance inside the hall during lessons.
These courses which have drawn 50 participants with 25 for each, is slated to commence from 17th to 19th July 2020 in Mwanza and Salima respectively.
