MOC organized a Strategic Plan workshop at Sunbird Capital- Lilongwe from 25th to 28th March 2021.
“We believe in planning ahead of all our activities, every four years we evaluate the success of our Programmes and then plan for the next four years. This is why we organized the workshop to develop a new strategic plan for the next quadrennial year 2021 to 2025.”
Said MOC President Jappie Mhango.
He further explained that Participants were drawn from our affiliates, cross-sectional stakeholders and the workshop is being facilitated by an expert from Zimbabwe Mr. Robert Mutsauki heavily supported by the commission that we trained last year in the Strategic Facilitators workshop to build capacity within our affiliates. To ensure that they have the capacity to help in the development of strategic plans not only in assisting MOC but within their federations.
“We should be able to launch the plan at the next annual general meeting which is scheduled for 24th April, 2021 and we would like to focus on key strategic areas that we believe will help us to develop sports in the country but also ensure that as an organization we are also financially sustainable,”
Mhango Said.
MOC is excited that the government has provided the opportunity to resume sports, but it is also important that we continue to follow all the Covid 19 Preventive measures and this will give us ample time to continue training for major events that are coming ahead.
In his Closing remarks, Mhango said, “this has been excellence workshop where participation and we had the Director of sports from the ministry with us, this is an indication that government also takes sports as an important part of development. The plan has four focus areas such as business development, sustainability, Sports Development, and Legacy we would like to continue developing our athletes so that as a country we can attain at least one athlete who qualifies directly for the Olympic Games”.
Director of Sport Jameson Ndalama Said, “The workshop was a great success as MOC planned on what they want to achieve in the next 4 years including. We are happy that they have incorporated a number of issues such as women empowerment, mass participation, capacity building including athletes’ development. The plan has indeed covered important areas that are all in line with government and National sports policies. As the government, we will ensure that we support them to achieve their plan.”
