Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) in conjunction with Malawi Archery Association is conducting the Development of National Sports System. The Course will run for 3months June to August, 2023 in the three regions Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Blantyre. The course has started in Lilongwe at Bingu National Stadium with 25 Participants.

International Archery Expert Mr. Carlos Guilherme Beato De Freitas from Portugal is facilitating the Course.
Speaking during the Opening Ceremony, the Guest of Honor Mr. Blackson Malamula who is also Malawi School Sports Association (MASSA) President, thanked MOC and Malawi Archery Association for organizing the course. He encouraged participants to shine and make the sport of Archery known in the Country.

“Identify potential Athletes for Archery, teach them and make Archery Sport known, put Archery on the back page of newspapers”, Malamula said.
Speaking on behalf of the Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC), Mr. Ousborne Banda, The Board Member for the Committee said MOC organized the course to develop structures of Archery in the country. He further encouraged the participants to develop Archers in their respective Schools

On his part, International Archery Expert, Mr. Carlos Guilherme Beato De Freitas said he will facilitate in the Northern, Central and Southern Regions of Malawi. The best participants in each region will undergo the second level of the training which will be a Coaching Course Level 1. He also said that it is very sad to see that Archery is not much practiced in Africa, despite originating from the Continent.

“Archery started in Africa, it is well known for hunting”, He said.
The Program is funded by International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the Olympic Solidarity.
