The Six months Game Changers Economic Empowerment (Tailoring & Designing) project has been finalized. The project commenced in May 2024 with the aim of empowering athletes with income generating skills to sustain themselves financially during and after their sporting career. Five athletes from four sporting disciplines namely, Judo, Taekwondo, Weightlifting & Volleyball benefited from the project.
With Support from the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) beneficiaries have received brand new Singer Sewing Machines as a starter pack to support their new careers. The beneficiaries were, Mussa Milanzi and Treezer Tears from Judo, Gift Lambulira a Taekondo athlete, Alinafe Mchochoma a Weightlifting Athlete and Raheem Said from Volleyball.
Malawi Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) recognizes the need to develop athletes both in sports competitions and well being. It aims to see athletes financially secured and in good health after their sports careers. The Tailoring project has impacted athletes with vast knowledge in design and sewing different kinds of clothes such as dress, shorts, trousers, bags, skirts, shirts and uniforms.
Malawi CGA will continue empowering athletes through different initiatives so that athletes sustain their livelihood during and after their sporting career.
