A week long coaching course which started on 7th March to 18th March at Lilongwe Golf Club. The Course was facilitated by reputable instructor Freeman Nyamunokora who is a Level 1 Course Instructor and drew 16 Participants from across the country.

Nyamunokora was assisted by local trainer Hackson M’methiwa from Blantyre. The training was made possible with assistance from Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC).

MOC representative Frank Chitembeya who was monitoring the training at LGC Tennis Court has since urged Participants to take the training seriously as it is a tool to develop Lawn Tennis in the Country.

“Upon completion of the Training use this knowledge to develop tennis in your area. Don’t just sit around and waste the knowledge you have gained here. You are representing your area and make a difference so that the Game of Lawn Tennis can flourish. People all over the world are making a living out of this sport. We are Millionaires like Roger Federer, Novac Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Martina Hings, just to mention a few, who are global brands because of tennis. Let’s create our own heroes and its starts with coaches like you.”

National Tennis Coach Henry Mtuta said the training will help promote Tennis at grassroots level.

“This is very important because it will improve our teaching style as you know that everything nowadays is changing so even in tennis coaching styles have changed. I am sure these coaches have been taught new things which will improve Tennis here in Malawi.”
