Commonwealth Games Association Malawi on Monday joined other CGA`s to commemorate the Commonwealth Day Celebrations.
The event drew 50 learners from five schools in Lilongwe, who took part in various sporting and cultural activities, including Netball, Poetry and Drama.
Speaking in an interview, CGA Malawi Marketing Officer Loveness Thole,who was the event`s organizing committee chairperson, said they decided to celebrate the day with children to a spirit and values of Commonwealth in them.
“Commonwealth is a grouping of mostly English speaking countries. There are values and history that united us all and we want our children to grow up with that spirit which bonds the Commonwealth countries,” she said.
Thole said the theme was chosen because the governments and people of the 71 Commonwealth countries connect at many levels.
commonwealth Day is an annual celebration observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.
Commonwealth Day is held on the second Monday of March each year. The theme for this year was Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.
