The Malawi Olympic Committee will on the 13th of July 2019 celebrate 50 years of existence in the country, in conjunction with the Annual Olympic Day Celebrations.This was confirmed by a Press Briefing organized by the Malawi Olympic Committee with the aim of informing the general public on the issue at hand.
Speaking at the Press Conference, the President of MOC Mr. Oscar Kanjala said that, this is a very spectacular occasion to be celebrated as the MOC exists with the input and participation of all the stakeholders in the country.
“These celebrations are not just there for mere celebrating but are there for us to reflect on the meaning and what our existence have achieved for the past 50 years, Said Kanjala”
However, this is the 51st year since Malawi Olympic Committee`s existence, essentially the celebrations were supposed to be commemorated in 2018 but due to other challenges one of them being participating in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and hosting 2 major international events, the committee shifted the event to 2019.
The Celebrations which will be held at Kamuzu Institute for Sports, Activities of the day lined up are Aerobics Session, Athletics field events, Netball and Football matches, many activities.
